Located at 180 Enterprise Blvd in Markham, Patisserie Fleur is the kind of place where you will find yourself questioning whether you are adequately dressed upon entering. I tested it on a summer weekday afternoon, brought in my laptop-like tablet setup and ready to see if this gorgeous-looking café could actually follow through on its Instagram-perfect aesthetics.

The Order: Beauty Comes at a Price
I went with a rose latte ($5.75 plus 50 cents for cold) and their Matcha Jasmine Yuzu cake ($8.80), bringing my total to $17.01 CAD after tax. Yes, seventeen dollars for one drink and a slice of cake, we’ll come back to see whether it’s really worth it.
Plot Twist: The Rose Latte Reality Check
Here’s where I learned my first lesson: always clarify your assumptions. I confidently ordered the rose latte thinking it was a tea-based drink, only to discover it was actually coffee-based. Completely my fault for not double-checking, but the menu layout and its mix of London Fog and Matcha lattes alongside coffee drinks, which can be quite confusing.
The good news? The rose latte wasn’t too overpowering, which is perfect for someone like me who doesn’t need an espresso-strength intensity. It would be a different story if you want a strong caffeine intake. The staff was accommodating when I asked them if it possible to add less ice, which was quite nice. Just a side not that if you’re not sure if a latte is tea or coffee-based, just ask to be sure. The hot tea section covers tea options, but cold tea drinks might be hiding in the latte section.

The Cake That Stole the Show
The Matcha Jasmine Yuzu cake, however, was a revelation. The yuzu flavour hit immediately, followed by a strong jasmine base that created this sophisticated flavour profile I wasn’t expecting. But here’s the genius part – there’s an ice-like frosting between the cake layers that keeps everything perfectly chilled while amplifying the yuzu’s tartness. The matcha cream on top provides a subtle earthy finish that ties everything together beautifully.
The Atmosphere: Stunning But Practical Considerations
The location is right in the centre of Downtown Markham, very convenience location, close to Marriott Markham and Cineplex. The inside is just gorgeous, think high-end afternoon tea chic with marble and wooden tables with black legs that have this princess-cut diamond feel. The wooden edges complement the wooden walls, with white marble and black providing a consistent, Instagram-beautiful look. You can tell there was serious thought put into each design element.
The music was quite loud during my visit, likely because I was the only customer dining in at the time and the ceiling is really high that. Interestingly, I noticed that the playlist were mostly K-pop songs, everything from Big Bang to Miss A, Jungkook’s “Seven” to Sunmi’s “24 Hours”, and much more Korean songs. As someone who doesn’t mind K-pop, I actually quite enjoyed it as a background music. I’m not sure if this is their regular theme or just that particular day’s mood.

The Work-Friendly Test
I asked about working here at the shop since WiFi was advertised, and staff confirmed it’s fine during non-peak weekday hours, in which I was totally understandable. However, come prepared for arctic conditions – they blast the air conditioning, presumably to keep the cakes fresh and because it’s summer. I’d strongly recommend bringing a light jacket or wearing long sleeves and pants unless you enjoy shivering while you study.
During my hour and a half stay, only six people came in, most of them for app-based takeout orders and one was in-person order. This makes it genuinely quiet for studying, but also highlights that dine-in isn’t their primary business model.
The Reality Check: Worth It or Wallet Drain?
Let’s address the elephant in the room: $17 for a drink and a piece of cake is rather high. But this is the twist: you’re not really paying for food so much as for an experience. The stunning interior, the selfie opportunities, the serene atmosphere to work or study in, and genuinely exceptional cake artistry do justify the upscale cost, if you’re an individual who values presentation as much as taste.
My one operational gripe? The lack of a dual payment screen, which means that you can’t see your order total as you build it. This forces you to do mental math beforehand, which caught me off guard when I made last-minute changes.

The Verdict
Patisserie Fleur fills a specific niche perfectly, it’s for people who want a quiet weekday study spot with serious aesthetic appeal, or those planning an Instagram-worthy afternoon date. The food quality matches the premium pricing, and the atmosphere delivers on the promise of feeling fancy.
Just remember: dress warmly, clarify your drink base, and maybe save this for special occasions unless your budget is more flexible than mine. Sometimes paying for beauty and tranquility is worth it – and honestly, that Matcha Jasmine Yuzu cake alone might convert me into a regular customer despite my wallet’s protests.
